SEWING MACHINE REPAIR TECHNICIAN
Sew Contempo is looking for a Sewing Machine Repair Technician. This position entails basic cleaning and adjustments to mechanical and computerized sewing/embroidery machines and sergers. The position also repairs sewing/embroidery machines and sergers that are not working properly. The chosen applicant is required to learn and apply the following skills. Mechanical training is provided.
Provide service for customers ranging from inexperienced to expert sewers.
Communicate the basics about repairs to customers so they can understand what is wrong.
Process warranty claims.
Manage parts stock levels.
Ask for and receive assistance by phone when troubleshooting machines.
The following are physical functions of the job:
Able to lift 50-75 lbs from the ground up to a high bench.
Ladder climbing.
Bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and performing repetitive motions.
Able to see tiny mechanical details and consistently and accurately set tolerances as small as 0.1mm
Dexterity: work with parts that are as small as a tear drop.
The chosen applicant will receive training to understand how a sewing machine and serger is timed, the movement and tolerances and how thread tension is balanced. In-house as well as out-of-store training may be required.
This is a full-time position and requires great customer service skills and the ability to complete servicing in a timely manner.
